They
say that in life finding happiness is a journey, not a destination. Don Erdely, President of Destination Homes, can't quite
agree with that. "Well I know that Destination projects have made a
lot of people happy," says Erdely, "so
maybe happiness is the Destination?" There might just be something to
that.
Although Destination has built hundreds of
single-family homes and managed a variety of multi-family developments
throughout Kelowna
and surrounding areas, there is a common thread to this wide body of work.

Destination Homes was never driven to be the biggest builder in the Okanagan, but they've always been committed to being

Having successfully completed over eight hundred homes
and several multi-family development projects in the Valley, Destination
Homes has worked hard to built a reputation based

family-run business locally owned and operated. In addition to Don, Four Erdelys manage different aspects of the company. Don's
son Travis Erdely acts as General Manager for
single family home construction while daughter Amanda Erdely
is the company's office manager.
Don's oldest daughter is the multi-family construction administrator
and Don's wife Angela is in charge of sales & marketing. Each member of
the Erdely clan has special skills and abilities
related to the business, and those qualities combined with a dedicated team
of employees have helped fuel Destination's growth over many years in the Okanagan.
Custom
Homes & Renovations
In the early years the success of their custom home business sparked an expansion into
design/build services, renovations and a thriving, much sought after
construction management service for multi-family residential buildings. In
the last five years, the company has been very active building new homes in
Smith Creek, a single-family residential community located about five
minutes from downtown Westbank. Smith Creek Hills
has several Destination Homes available for viewing, including a fully
furnished show home. Destination also maintains an inventory of pre-built
homes for sale on their web site www.homesbydestination.com.
They are members in good standing with the Homeowner Protection Office and
the Canadian Home Builders Association, and offer New Home Warranty through
the St. Paul Guarantee Insurance.
Destination has also been involved in many custom renovations in the Okanagan Valley. The company recently completed an
award winning $350,000 renovation of a two story home in the West Kelowna Estates area, and is set to begin a $400,000
renovation in the spring. No
renovation project is too large for Destination, and their size and
know-how allows them flexibility with regards to the services they offer
clients. "We can work with a client's preexisting plans or we can
provide planning service right from the start," says Erdely, "We can show a client how to take what
they really love about their home, and work with them to meet their needs
and goals." The depth of experience of the Destination team enables
them to provide specialized resources and personnel for renovation
projects, no matter what the scope.
DEVELOPMENT project MANAGEMENT SERVICES
Destination has provided Development Management for several projects in Kelowna,
including 5 adult communities and several other multi-family and
single-family developments. In this capacity, Destination functioned as the
General & Project Managers for the highly successful revitalization of
the Quail Ridge Resort Development, in Kelowna. They
were responsible for analyzing and redesigning the project's master plan to
take advantage of changes in the market, developing promotional and
marketing programs, and even setting up and maintaining hotel operations at
the Borgata Lodge. Most recently Destination
Management has focused its attention on and has been acting as Director of
Development for two highly successful projects owned by Okanagan
Land Development Corporation: 'The
Lakes' in Lake Country and 'The Outback' in Vernon. The Lakes is a long-term
multi-phase development with single family home sites, multi-family sites,
a commercial sector and an adult community. The Outback is a 185 unit
residential lakeshore resort, and its one of the most unique and popular
resorts in Canada.

construction management services
Destination Management's core
service is to provide
construction management services to developers of large & small
multi-family buildings. Destination's approach to multi-unit construction
offers development owners the benefit of single-source accountability, with improved cost controls, shortened
time frames, improved flexibility and process integrity. For years,
Destination has been guiding a variety of projects through the various
stages of development, plus providing construction management services from
preliminary design and budgeting through all phases of construction.
In this role as
construction Manager, Destination organizes the scope of the project, the
schedule, the budget and the various entities required for the project to
be implemented. They direct the project team through regular meetings,
providing timely communications and verify that critical actions and tasks
are completed as required to insure on time and on budget performance of
the project work. Whether an owner is on-site or across the country,
Destination establishes methods of keeping them in a knowledgeable position
about the progress of their project throughout all phases of the assignment.
Currently on
the Construction Management side of the business, The Sitara
Project in Lake
Country has been the
focus of Destination's energy. The first phase of the Sitara
Project involves the construction of an 82 unit, 4 story residential
condominium with an underground parkade due for
completion this summer. The second phase will consist of a 32 unit
residential building with underground parkade,
outdoor pool plus it will also house commercial space. Working under the
direction of experienced project managers and superintendents such as Terry
Rule and Frank Bothe, Destination is able to control quality,
cost, schedules and final delivery, ensuring project success. This
integrated team approach results in high-quality, distinctive, efficient
environments designed and built to meet the needs of the client.
Destination was recently commended by the architect for the Sitara project. In an unsolicited referral they
commented that "with fifteen years of experience we can honestly say
